Carrier Recommendations for Tee

Hi Tee!

Betty here. From what I understand, you're looking for a slim, lightweight, snug fit carrier you can wear around the house for long periods of time. There are different types of carriers for different needs. Wraps and rings can be used for baby wearing around the house. Soft-structured carriers are for when you're out and about and want a little more support. And lastly, backpack carriers are for those long hikes or adventures.

Based on your preferences, I'm recommending a wrap carrier, a soft-structured carrier and one that's kind of a hybrid. Since you're early in your search, consider this a starting point so you can get a feel for what's out there and I'm happy to send you more suggestions as you fine tune your preferences.

My first recommendation is for the Solly Wrap. This is a traditional wrap that you tie around your body to create a snug fit for your baby. Moms love the Solly wrap because its made of a super lightweight and breathable stretchy fabric. You might have heard of the Boba or Moby wraps, which are also popular wraps in this category but they're made from a thicker, less stretchy material that can get hot (not great for the heat wave we're having!). The only downside to the Solly wrap is that the max weight limit is 25 lbs (vs. 35 lbs with the Moby and Boba).

My second recommendation is for the Artipoppe Zeitgeist Baby Carrier. This is by far one of the most expensive soft-structured carriers available, but I recommended it because it has a very slim profile and is super chic. It's offered in the most fashionable patterns, but you're definitely paying for it. If it's too big of a splurge, another similar option is the Tula Free to Grow, which is also slim, offered in fun colors and half the price.

My third recommendation is for the Sakura Scout Carrier. I consider the Scout a hybrid between a traditional wrap and a soft structured carrier. It's super compact and light but also has the security and buckling of a soft-structure carrier.

As you fine tune your preferences, some things I suggest thinking about are:

  • Do you want one carrier or two? The wraps are great because they fit snug and don't have buckles and straps. However, their weight limit usually maxes out at ~25-35 lbs. If you don't want to buy two carriers, you might wan to opt for a soft-structured carrier like the Artipoppe Zeitgeist or Sakura Scout that can carry your newborn up until 45 lbs.
  • How important is the front-carrying outward-facing position? This is the position that allows your little one to be carried in front of you and look forward. The options I recommended do not offer this position since most of the slimmer carriers don't offer the front facing position. However, if you do want this feature, the slimmest option is the Baby Bjorn One Carrier.

I think I've given you plenty to think about here. Look it over and shoot me a text if you have any questions. I'm also happy to send you more recs if you've changed your preferences or setup a quick consultation to chat more.
