Car Seat Recommendations for Tee

Hi Tee!

Betty here. From what I understand, you're looking for a 3-in-1 car seat that is slim and can be used with your stroller. Unfortunately, only infant car seats can be used with strollers. Infant car seats can support babies up until 35 lbs (anywhere from 9 mo to 2 years). With that, I've recommended two infant car seats you can use with strollers right away and one 3-in-1 car seat.

My first recommendation is for the Uppababy Mesa. It's an infant car seat and one of the best on the market. I recommended this option because it's compatible with the Uppababy Cruz V2 and Uppababy Vista V2 strollers and does not require an adapter. It can also be used with and without a car seat base so you can use it in multiple cars without moving the base. Also, if non-toxic materials is important to you, the Mesa has two non-toxic colors (Jordan and Henry) that are ~$50 more expensive.

My second recommendation is for the Nuna Pipa. The Nuna Mixx Next stroller I recommended is only compatible with the Nuna Pipa car seats. There are four other car seats in the Nuna Pipa family - Nuna Pipa RX, Nuna Pipa Lite, Nuna Pipa Lite R and Nuna Pipa Lite LX - I've included an article below that describes their differences. I chose the Nuna Pipa for you because it can be used with or without the base (Lite models can't be used without the base).

My last recommendation is for the Maxi-Cosi Pria Max 3-in-1 Convertible. This car seat can support your little guy from 4 lbs to 100 lbs in three different seats - rear-facing, front-facing, and booster. The Pria Max 3-in-1 is one of the slimmest and sleekest 3-in-1 car seats with a width of 19.25". If you want something slimmer, Nuna's 3-in-1 car seat, the Exec, is 18.5" wide, but costs over $300 more. Another option is the Clek Foonf, it's one of the slimmest car seats on the market at 16.9" wide, but it's max weight limit is 65 lbs since it's only a 2-in-1 and doesn't convert to a booster seat.

I know you're early in your search, so consider these recommendations a starting point. Check these out and I'm happy to adjust my recommendations as you start getting more clarity on what you're looking for. Some things I suggest thinking about if I were you are:

  • Am I willing to use an infant car seat adapter with my stroller? If so, it opens up some more affordable options for infant car seats.
  • Do I want a non-toxic car seat? If so, the Uppababy Mesa and Nuna Pipa are great options for infant car seats. I'll have to find you a different option for the 3-in-1 since the Maxi-Cosi is not non-toxic. I've included an article below about why some parents care about non-toxic car seats.
  • Do I need a 3-in-1 car seat now? Like I mentioned earlier, the infant car seat can last you a good 1-2 years. You could buy the infant car seat first and see if other, better, 3-in-1 car seats enter the market when you're ready to buy one.

I think I've given you plenty to think about here. Look it over and shoot me a text if you have any questions. I'm also happy to send you more recs if you've changed your preferences or setup a quick consultation to chat more.
